Montreux, Switzerland

Montreux was our final stop before we headed home via Geneva airport the next day. It’s by Lake Geneva, and you can see a lot of snow-capped mountains in the distance (one even vaguely looks like Fuji).

Montreux is most famous for Chillon Castle that’s been around since sometime in the 1100s. Funnily it’s been a tourist attraction for a long time now, with Lord Byron visiting in the 19th century and even writing a poem about it.

We saw a Great cormorant doing its best to sun its wings while balancing on a buoy - I thought it looked like a dragon actually. Also spotted a swan with its nest of eggs near the castle’s moat, and a common merganser with its duckling.

Right near the end of the day, we were just chilling on a bench taking photos of the boats going by. I heard a chirp, turned around, and a little sparrow was just sitting on a pole right behind me which gave me a chance to get a close-up shot.
